drum roll please.....

We had our sonogram, and the doctor says it's a girl! (Not gonna lie, I'm not fully convinced how he's so certain, because we didn't get a money shot...and she didn't really cooperate when we tried to get her to move around so the dr could get more measurements, however I'm planning for a girl :)) Everything seems to be normal and healthy and right on track, so we're happy! (and now I can confidently go buy those baby socks with shoes printed on them, and little clothes with cupcakes on them)

Her little mouth is open and you can kind of see inside of her head.
I don't really know how this proves anything, but the sonographer seems pretty certain...at least ceratin enough to label the photo "Baby Girl."  the more solid line in the center is a femur...and that's about as far as I can get you.
Another profile, now her mouth is closed.  Her little nose is just too cute :)

21 weeks

I am now at 21 weeks, and am hoping to have a sonogram tomorrow (weather permitting)  This one will hopefully tell us the gender of Tad, so we can get to do some more planning.  If you'd like to take a guess, feel free although the consensus seems to be that it'll be a boy.  Why?  I don't know, but I think I only know one person who thinks it'll be a girl.  So far things seem to be going pretty well, the nausea has finally subsided and I can eat pretty much normally now.  Although, the movers told me I was too skinny and needed to eat some more beans (whatever that means) and when I told them I was 21 weeks, the guy exclaimed "Whoa, that's like what 6 or 7 months!"  Yep...those are the people with whom we trust our posessions.  I don't know if I am on the smaller side or not, my doctor in Florida told me everything was progressing fine, so I'm trying not to worry about my size.  So, here is a grainy photo of my belly, as promised.  Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon (or evening for most of you guys) we'll be able to know the gender and begin picking names!

the trip continued

In the last entry I left you guys somewhere in the boring part of the country.  I apologize for leaving you there, it must have been awful!  Anyhow, we finished our 2nd part of a 3 part trip in Los Angeles so spend a few days with Brandon's dad.  Apollo got to play with some greyhounds, and we scarred some greyhounds for life by bringing a boxer into their lives.  He had a great time, but it's clear that we did not socialize him well.  This was made clear when the greyhounds looked at us like "why did you bring this here...what did we ever do to you!?"  He hopped and play bowed and pounced all over the place, while the other dogs stood there staring at him wondering when the meds would kick in.  When Po got tired he'd get a drink of water...from the swimming pool, and then start all over.  We couldn't blame him too much though, he had been riding in a car for 3 days.  We got a chance to visit the Getty museum and the Reagan museum.  We spent time at the aquarium and were treated out for an early valentines dinner and a movie date, while the adults hung out...apparently though we're in our mid twenties, we're still shunted to the kids table.  We saw "The Kings Speech" which was excellent!  Then we packed up our bags and headed out to complete our journey.  We drove up I-5, making stops in northern California, Portland and then eventually made it to Washington.  For the most part the drive was very scenic and lovely, but then we hit the snow.  We've never driven in snow, and our first time was driving in a truck pulling a car which made it all the scarier.  However, we made it through and arrived safely, praise the Lord!  Now we're hanging out in the Navy hotel until we can move into our house on Wednesday.  The movers are scheduled to come on Thursday, and I can hardly wait to see my furniture, namely my own bed!  I have an appointment on the 28th to see the radiologist to get my 20 week sonogram, which will hopefully tell us the sex of the baby, and then I see the doctor on the 2nd for a check up.  So, that's us!  You're all up to date and out of the south western part of the country :D

Willie was wrong

Willie Nelson is an idiot.  Who can't wait to get on the road again?  Weirdo.  Anyhow, we're in the process of moving again, hence the bitter attitude toward Mr. Nelson.  That makes 5 re-locations in 3 years.  (However, during the next 3 years, hopefully we won't move at all!!)  Since we are southerners and afraid of snow (you read me) we decided to drive around the Rockies rather than through them.  This also allows us to stop in two cities to visit family along the way.  It's a win win.  The first third of our trip (from Florida to Texas) is old news for us, since we've made that drive 4 times now (not including driving for house hunting or holidays, that's only counting moving) the second third is where we are right now, between Texas and California.  Aka the land that God decided didn't really need embellishment.  Granted, I realize that the Northern parts of New Mexico and Arizona are quite lovely.  I'd hate for someone to drive through El Paso and assume all of Texas was a hole!  However, the portion of NM and Az that I-10 run through...will not be showcased on any postcard anytime soon.  Unless it says "could be worse, you could be here"  I've heard that our last portion of the drive, the one up the West coast will be quite nice, and I'm looking forward to that!
So far, God has been so gracious as to let us avoid all the wintery mess that keeps blowing in Texas.  We had some rain and fog in Florida on our way out, but other than that clear skies the whole way through.  We're towing our car behind Brandon's truck so that we're not both driving long hours each way, but Brandon has been doing all of the driving because he's a really nice husband and knows that I would be really nervous to drive a big truck pulling a car.  If he needs me to drive, of course I would, but he's just nice.  I haven't been playing the pregnancy card either (except for potty and snack breaks...)  We've been reviewing flight information (those guys have to memorize a ton of info, I'm glad I'm not a pilot!) and listening to the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe series on cd along the way.  Po rides in the back seat of the truck.  He's pretty good most of the time, although apparently he's developed a phobia of stairs somewhere along the way.  We're not sure what happened, he grew up going up and down stairs with no problems, but apparently hes a tad bit bathophobic.  That or acrophobic.
As far as baby Tad goes, I'm just about 19 weeks along, and the baby is roughly the size of an apple.  I do have a little baby bump, I'll try to get pictures before I give birth.  We're hoping once we get up to Washington that I'll be able to make an appointment to get a second sonogram.  This one should hopefully tell us the sex, because yes we want to know!  Apparently everyone thinks we're having a boy.  I have no feeling either way.  All I know is that I really enjoy eating salad and potatoes.  Potatoes are best when baked or mashed, but I won't lie, I do like fries and chips too.  I will wolf down a salad though like they're going out of style, which is good, I won't complain, it's just a weird thing to want....so normal...Other than that, I'll be trying to sign up for all sorts of classes to learn about what I'm supposed to be doing and what not, since I don't know anything at all!  Well...that's all from me for now.  I'll check in as we have decent wifi at our various hotels :)
